Winter Sale Bundle 2 x albums 1x EP

by Hysterical Injury

  • Compact Disc (CD)

Hysterical Injury 2007 - 20019 (though never say never ;). A band made from my burning heart to connect to people that understood the awful confines of society, politically, bodily, noisily. It's all I wanted to do against all odds (and still is with my solo music). There was so much to distil and evaporate amongst the noise, melodies and sweat. HI gigs were always transformative for us, we released the beast in the most euphoric way, joyous, energising. These three releases were from when it was me and my brother and we always intended to explore the recording process as a different format to playing live. Live you got the RAW, on record you got the DETAIL.

'Dead Wolf Situation' from 2012, recorded twice, the second version is this album. Funded by the Joe Strummer Foundation (forever grateful), engineered and produced by James King at J&J Studios in Bristol, Mastered by Shawn Joseph at Optimum, Bristol with equipment contributions from Oli Foxen at Ampstack, Matt Nolan for esoteric mics, Lee Stone for original drum parts on all tracks apart from 'Rosetta's Waves', lyrics on 'Halo Alkanes' by artist Ben Garrod. This album, whose songs I birthed, was a feat for me and couldn't have done it without my family, especially my bro who through this album joined the band.

'Blood Burst' from 2015, recorded once, with the incredible and frankly how did this happen? Gordon Raphael who was behind the iconic production sound of The Strokes and Regina Specktor... he liked our band and was in Bristol for a bit, so there you have it. My personal favourite sounding thing that is most representative of us live. We had additional engineering from Jim Barr, bass hero of Portishead and Get the Blessing, and Oliver Baldwin. The artwork is compiled from a series of early C20th postcards and put together by Jamie Worsfold, photographer friend of the band and we wanted it so that you had to turn the thing around to see the pictures. I think our sweet spots as a live band was between 2013 -2017... and this record holds some of that zing!

'LifeDeathLife' from 2019, actually didn't take long to write, even though my brother had moved to Manchester. He's come down for shows and we'd jump in a room and write the wild, record it and i would shape it at home. I wanted to forget we were a live band too with this album and see what that could do... so I play guitar, synth, toy piano, as well as bass and vocals on this thing. We had some special guests in Run Logan Run's Andrew Neil Hayes on Sax and Matt Loveridge of MXLX on vocals. This album was produced by Jim Barr and we had a brilliant time making this with him. Jamie Worsfold took most of the pictures in the 27 page mini sized zine I made, xeroxed in true DIY style. The front cover is a piece of art photography by Tabitha Soren, artist and former MTV presenter, called Panic Beach 157593 that I fell in love with while drifting on the internet one day.

There aren't many copies of these physical releases on CD left and I need to clear room in the house! Although all the music is available to download and stream across all platforms, these are the artefacts. If you're into artefacts, grab this bundle while you can, when they're gone, they're gone n all that. Much gratitude to the support and incredible fun we had, and you never know what might happen in the future.
